Varje deltävling har två omgångar. En uppvärmningsklass - fredag - och en Världscupklass - lördag. Resultatet i uppvärmningsklassen avgör startordningen i Världscupen. Straffpoäng delas ut i sekunder. Den kusk som har snabbast tid när eventuella straffsekunder lagts till vinner, den med näst snabbast tid blir tvåa osv.

Varje kusk får köra fyra deltävlingar och fyra resultat räknas. Den som har högst antal poäng efter sista deltävlingen på Scandinavium i april vinner Världscupen för fyrspann.
The two competitions at each CAI-W 2001 / 02 are open to 5 drivers of the Top-Ten in the Top Driver Award 2001 and one home Driver, jointly selected by the NF and the Organising Committee. This Wild Card may not be given to any of the 10 qualified World Cup Drivers.
The two competitions are:
Warm-up competition, to decide the starting order in the World Cup Competition
World Cup Competition.
The course is the same for both competitions. The course must be built either the day or the morning before the warm-up competition, to allow the drivers to walk the course.
Equipment: Marathon harness and carriage. Each driver may enter 5 horses. The Indoor course consists of: - 2 Marathon type obstacles (maximum 5 gates each), - 1 Bridge, - approximately 10 Cone-type obstacles. The competitions are run as Time Competitions (Art. 967) with penalties converted to seconds: The scale of penalties is as follows: - Dislodging one or two balls in the same single obstacle Seconds added 5 - Knocking over or down any element of a multiple obstacle 5 - Causing an obstacle to be rebuilt (clock stops) 5 - Groom(s) or driver dismounting 1st or 2nd time (clock stops) 5 - Groom uses the reins, the brake or the whip 5 - Wrong course, corrected 10 - Starting before the Bell 5 - First or second disobedience No penalties - Groom(s) or driver dismounting 3rd time Elim. - Third disobedience Elim. - Wrong course, not corrected Elim. - Failing to pass through starting or finishing flags Elim. - Carriage turnover Elim.
After ringing the Bell the driver has 45 seconds to start his course. If he has not started, the clock starts to run. The starting order for the warm-up competition is drawn. The starting order of the World Cup is, in principle, the reverse order of merits from the warm-up. As an alternative the drivers, in order of merit in the warm-up, may chose their starting positions.
World Cup points are given as follows (only in the World Cup Competition):
